BiographieSylwia Gorak ist eine Absolventin der Akademie der Schönen Künste in Posen, Fakultät der Malerei, Grafik und Bildhauerei. 2001 erlangte sie ein Diplom in Zeichnung und Performance in der Werkstätte von Jaroslaw Kozlowski, Performance Symultaniczny. Von 1997 bis 1998 besuchte sie das Laboratorium Glosu, "Laboratorium der Stimme", die Vokalschule bei Prof Olga Szwajgier in Krakau, und absolvierte eine Gesangsausbildung. Die Künstlerin beschäftigt sich mit Malerei, Zeichnung und Perfomance, sowie mit Gesangt, Video- und Klangkunst.
Im Jahr 2010 war sie Gastkünstlerin im Rahmen des Künstleraustauschs Warschau 01 der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf - Ausstellung "Time in Dusseldorf / The Largest Sundial in the World", Franz-Jürgens-Straße 12, 2. bis 4.7.2010 (Kurator Michael Voets).

Über die Arbeit
"Sound is emitted, creating in a thought a wall from forehead to heart, towards backbone and occiput. Sound comes from heart, not throat, jaw loose, palate ten centimeters "above head". More or less this is how we should perceive our body, while singing, to achieve, so called clarity and pitch of sound.Then, the voice frees itself, using matter, which is the body of a singer, like an instrument, a resonance box with the brain built in. This physical passiveness lets touch a primal simplicity of existence and almost animal emotional expression. Singing is an element of love, erotic and spiritual communication. The rest of the script in the performance is a job for the intellect and the sense of synthesis." (Sylwia Gorak)
