BiographyIsaak Babel war ein russischer Journalist und Schriftsteller. Sein bekanntestes Werk ist der 1926 veröffentlichte Erzählband Die Reiterarmee. Nach anfänglichen Erfolgen in der jungen Sowjetunion fiel er den stalinistischen Säuberungen zum Opfer und wurde 1940 hingerichtet; 1954 wurde er rehabilitiert.
