About
Düsseldorf's cultural and natural treasures digital - that's d:kult
As an association of the museums, cultural institutes and foundations of the state capital Düsseldorf, we make the diversity and treasure of Düsseldorf's collections accessible online. Founded in 2003, d:kult currently publishes over 317,300 object records and over 66,400 personal records.
You can also find part of the Düsseldorf collections on the pages of the German Digital Library (DDB) and Europeana. Further co-operation partners and information about d:kult can be found HERE.
How to use d:kult online
COLLECTIONS On the COLLECTIONS page you can browse curated selections from the Düsseldorf collections.
PERSONS On the PERSONS page you can search for persons and/or institutions related to objects in the collections.
D:KULT-INSTITUTIONS Under D:KULT-INSTITUTIONS you will find a selection of the d:kult network partners.
EXHIBITIONS On the EXHIBITIONS page, you can discover virtual exhibitions curated by Düsseldorf's museums, foundations and institutes.
PROJECTS On the PROJEKTE page you will find a selection of current projects consisting of objects, literature and media.
QUICK SEARCH / ADVANCED SEARCH Click on the search icon in the menu and enter keywords or names in the search field (quick search) to find objects or other data records in our collection. To search for specific criteria, you can use the "advanced search".
SEARCH TIPS Use an * (star) as a placeholder in the search. Example: enter *film* in the search and you will receive results for feature film, silent film, film-related material, etc. Use quotes to get more specific results - e.g. John Doe will show all items with John or Doe, but "John Doe" will show the results for your exact search.
FILTER You can refine your results by using filters. For example, you can filter to show only works that contain images or other media.
WHY IS NO MEDIUM VISIBLE FOR THE OBJECT? The Düsseldorf museums and archives are continuously digitalising their collections. However, media are not available for all objects. This may be prevented by copyright and personal rights, the object has not yet been digitised or it may not be presented on the Internet.
