FRITZ UND FRATZ. TEIL V - VIII.
Datierung[1939]
Beschreibung"In this episode the adventure of Fritz and Fratz on the boat continues. The ship hits a rock and starts to sink. Everyone is evacuated, even the two little boys. Only their uncle Steffen is still stuck on the boat. He calls for the little ones to come and help him. Without a doubt they jump of the safety boats and swim back to their uncle. The ship sinks deeper and all they have left is a piece of wood to sit on all three together. Not much later they are surrounded by sharks: they manage to make the piece of wood smaller until the three only just manage to stay out of the water. Then they are saved by a raging storm that pulls them into the air and throuys them down again on a nearby island. Luckily uncle Steffens coat serves perfectla as a parachute and all three of them land unharmed. On the island noy, they first get into a fight with a bunch of monkeys in a tree that don't seem to appreciate the presence of uncle Steffen and the two young boys. The little ones manage to climb a tree but uncle Steffen quickly gets caught by a group of local inhabitants, to which the film refers as "wild men". The wild man are stereotypically (racism?) represented with big lips, skirts, tribal dancing, a king on a throne and cannibalism. Because they take uncle Steffen to their village and are about to cook and eat him. The king on his throne is already licking his lips when Fritz and Fratz manage to swing with a branch over the village and swoop their uncle out of the cooking pot. The chef then tells the rest they'll only have vegetables for dinner then." Text: Kathy Vanhout, Filmmuseum Düsseldorf, Februar 2019.
